eyeshadow tutorial

hello! if you are looking to learn and grow on how to do your eyeshadow you are the right place.

this is my every day eyeshadow look. i’ve tried the “natural” eyeshadow look and i just don’t like that look on me. i’ve also tried wearing no eyeshadow… that was a no! I’ve even tried only wearing winged eyeliner…. definite no! my eyes look best with “full on” eyeshadow, so i stick to that.

i encourage you to find the right eyeshadow look that works best for you. you can try new things, just always go back to what looks rights and feels right for you!

what you’ll learn from this blog:

  • the steps you can take to create this eyeshadow look

  • why each step is important and how it enhances your eyes

  • tips on how you can apply this process to any eyeshadow palette

before you start: REMEMBER to always tap your eyeshadow. what does this mean? after you grab eyeshadow using a brush tap the brush two times on your wrist. this will release any excess eyeshadow, thus preventing fallout.

step one: apply an even base coat using a neutral color. i like to pick a color that matches my skin tone.

why it’s important: it will create one even color tone. i have some discoloration so creating an even base color helps hides any imperfections.

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select a neutral and natural shade, a shade that matches your skin tone.

step two: on your crease using a windshield wiper motion apply a good medium color shade. blend back and forth thoroughly.

why it’s important: this will create dimension. all other steps will build from here.

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select your favorite shade. select a shade darker than step one.

step three: apply a deeper shade only on the edge of your crease

why it’s important: this will contrast from the lighter colors previously selected. this will also make your eye look brighter.

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select a medium dark shade.

step four: apply a shimmer shade to your eyelid

why it’s important: this will draw attention to your eyes

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select a shimmer, glitter or light shade… whatever compliments your eyes best

tip: apply shimmers and glitters with your finger tips

step five: apply a small amount to your lower lash line

why it’s important: this will frame your eyes

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select a natural color. stay away from anything too dark.

step six: highlight your inner corners using a super light shade

why it’s important: this will brighten your eyes and make them look more awake.

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select the lightest color from your palette or purchase a makeup highlighter

step seven: blend your colors

why it’s important: remove any harsh lines and create a seamless transition between colors.

step eight: apply eyeliner using eyeshadow ( i used a black shade from a different eyeshadow palette). i only apply it to half of my lid.

why it’s important: enhance and define your eyes

do this step with any eyeshadow palette: select the darkest color from your palette

thanks for reading! I hope you try one new step in your eyeshadow routine.
